Lean Consulting

Our Lean Consulting firm works with business owners throughout the country who want to improve their organization’s performance while embedding new thinking and behavior into their culture. Property Tax Appeals

Every year, the same thing happens:  a building owner opens their property tax bill and discovers that their assessment has gone up or at best, remained the same as the previous year, knowing that in today’s market their building and land isn’t worth what the county and appraiser thinks it is.  (In fact, sources suggest that commercial real estate values in some parts of Midwest are down by nearly 50 percent from their 2007 peak)

At Capital Recovery Group, we act as an agent / project manager on behalf of our client to help them reduce their property taxes by challenging the assessment through the Minnesota Tax Court.  If it appears as though there’s a good case to petition, we will match you with a team of highly-qualified real estate attorneys who are aggressive, thorough and well prepared in real estate tax negotiations and trial.  Their experience in the courtroom is unmatched, and their results consistently exceed their clients' expectations.

  1. We will review your properties and provide an initial preliminary analysis at no cost or obligation. If you decide to challenge the assessor's estimated market value, we will then pursue your reduction through negotiation and trial.

  2. Our fees are based on a contingency basis, whereby payment for consulting and legal services is wholly based upon achieving a favorable result.

Cost Segregation

Since 1989, our Cost Segregation team has successfully conducted over 7,000 studies nationwide, resulting in the deferral of over $1.5 Billion dollars in taxes for our clients.  Our lead engineer developed Cost Segregation for the in-house estimating group of Arthur Andersen LLP, and leads our staff of sixteen engineers, project managers, construction specialists and tax experts.  Our firm utilizes the IRS-approved detailed engineering methodology.

Our engineering firm has performed studies for hundreds of accounting firms on commercial properties in every state, working with companies such as Office Depot, T.G.I.
